Frequently Asked Questions
How is coaching different from counseling?
In coaching, we focus on specific present and future issues or areas of growth you want to address. It is goal-focused and we work together to help you make specific changes in a certain area of your life. With coaching, I still maintain confidentiality and adhere to mandated reporting standards.
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity, and leadership.”
Counseling is a health care service. In counseling, the focus is often on identifying, diagnosing, and treating mental health disorders. Sessions are focused on goals to alleviate symptoms, process and resolve underlying emotional issues, both past and present, and develop ways of coping with problems.
What can coaching help me with?
While coaching can focus on a variety of topics, I specialize in working with busy moms who want to improve their relationships with their partners and children, find balance to manage the chaos of work and life, and build strategies for staying organized. When we begin coaching, we will define what your goals are and how I can help.
Do you offer in-person coaching sessions?
At this time, I offer only virtual (online video) coaching sessions. I find that is best to maintain flexibility so you can fit coaching into your life.
